OWNER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Sarah has been teaching dance in the Richmond area for over 20 years. After years of teaching for other studios, Sarah opened JSDS in 2006.
Sarah has trained with many national artists as well as taken master classes from nationally accredited teachers and choreographers. She has also choreographed for local theatre and stage shows. Sarah's students have won numerous awards in dance across the nation.
Sarah currently splits her time between Richmond, VA and Naples, FL. She is excited to share her passion for dance with her students in both states.
Lyrical, Jazz, Musical Theatre & Competition Team Coach
Emma began dancing at the age of nine at Jump Start Dance Studio and has continued to pursue her love of dance into her college years. She graduated from George Mason University in May 2018, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Tourism, Events, and Hospitality Management with a Minor in Dance. As a teacher at JSDS, Emma has been an assistant, working closely with the competition team and stepping in to teach classes whenever she is needed. Emma is now a full time teacher at JSDS, while working in the hospitality industry. She loves to share her love of dance with all her students at Jump Start Dance Studio!
Ballet, Pointe & Preschool Instructor
Sigrid is originally from Atlanta Georgia and started dancing when she was three years old. She attended Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington D.C and South Carolina Governors School for the Arts and Humanities. Further dance training occurred at Atlanta Ballet, Suzanne Farrell Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre. After graduating from high school, she went on to dance with the Richmond Ballet performing Serenade, Piquita, Nutcracker, Magnificat, Swan Lake, Character Dances and many more. She is now thrilled to be teaching at Jump Start Dance!
Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical & Competition Team Coach
LeeAnn has been dancing since the age of 2, competing since the age of 7, and teaching since the age of 15. She has performed in and choreographed many award winning routines at the regional and national levels at competition. LeeAnn has travelled across the country studying under and assisting world renowned choreographers, including Kathryn McCormick, Robert Roldan, tWitch, Zach Venegas, and Rhonda Miller. LeeAnn has also attended intensives from the Radio City Rockettes. She has worked as a choreographer for Dallas Young Artists for the production of Beauty and the Beast in Garland, Texas. LeeAnn is excited to share her passion for dance with all of her students.
Social Media Manager, Substitute Teacher
Samantha started dancing at age 11 when JSDS opened in 2006. During her time at JSDS she was an assistant teacher in preschool classes and performed with the competition team. Samantha graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2018 with a degree in Communication. Now, she has come back to help with running social media for the studio and stand in as a substitute teacher when needed.
RICKI LEE COLE
Preschool, Acro & Musical Theatre
Ricki’s passion for expressing herself through creative movement began in the studio at 2 years old. By 3 she was taking Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip-Hop, cheering on the sidelines, and joined a competitive Gymnastics team at 5. She was invited to join a travelling All-Star Cheerleading team at 15 and began accumulating numerous championship titles at Regional, State and National levels. Her coaching experience began in High-School and after many years into a professional career, she has re-discovered her passion and joy for teaching these disciplines. Ricki is thrilled to be back in the studio with JSDS to pass along her skills and help students cultivate body-positive confidence through these expressive forms of movement.
